During the discussion, Wendy Sherman stressed on the necessity to increase women's representation in government for the development of democracy in the country. Wendy Sherman told that the issue of increase of women-politicians is topical for the U.S. Senate.

The co-chairperson of the inter-faction union from the “UDAR” faction Iryna Herashchenko called “the fact that the first meeting of the U.S. Under Secretary of State was held with the representatives of the inter-faction union “Equal opportunities” – an important gesture that attracts attention to gender issues”. She deems it to be good example for Ukrainian authority that “lets itself sexist statements against socially active women.”
Representatives of the inter-faction union “Equal opportunities” told about the aims and work of the union, in particular, about their first joint bills on cooperation with non-governmental sector.
The co-chairperson of the inter-faction union from the “Batkivshchyna” faction Olena Kondratyuk stressed that the members of the union aspire to change the cliche of women’s participation in politics. She deems the work of the union contributed to increase of women-deputies in the lists of political parties and, as a result, their increase in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The co-chairperson of the inter-faction union from “the Party of Regions” faction Iryna Berezhna stressed on the importance of compromise between the representatives of different political forces for solving gender issues and work on socially important initiatives.
During the meeting, the Parties discussed the issue of reform of Ukrainian legislation in the sphere of fighting domestic violence and discrimination.
